Most of us consider psychotherapy and counselling at times of crisis in our lives or in our relationships. The core of therapy lies in the gradual understanding that our happiness lies in the depth and quality of our relationship with ourselves.

If you are suffering from anxiety, low self esteem, depression, grief or if you don't feel in control of your life, psychotherapy can offer you the opportunity to develop greater self- awareness and support your efforts in improving and effecting change in your life.

Some area where psychotherapy and counselling can help:

I offer a non-judgmental, curious, and open atmosphere. I use an interactive style, and value warmth, compassion, respect, empathy, and humour.

I believe that our unconscious feelings can influence, and often negatively control, our lives and behaviours. By recognising how we developed certain patterns of behaviour and defences we gain understanding and compassion for ourselves. We see how we learned to protect ourselves during some of the most vulnerable stages of our lives. We begin to see that some of the defences that may have been appropriate at one stage of our lives no longer serve us. In psychotherapy we have a chance to work through the traumas and pain we have experienced, literally freeing us to live fulfilled and authentic lives.

Therapy provides a safe environment within which you have the freedom of time and security to identify, express and work through highly charged feelings, thus developing an awareness of the connections between these feelings and the behaviours they lead to. The client and therapist work on building a relationship together that will bring about an agent of change and understanding. My role is to listen, to help you see the patterns in what you are experiencing, and to help you find resolutions to difficulties using your strengths to improve your life. My theoretical approach to psychotherapy is influenced mainly by Psychodynamic theory and the importance of the early attachment experience, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Object Relations and the Gestalt approach.

" Be not the slave of your own past. Plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep and swim far, so you shall come back with self-respect, with new power, with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
